Chekhov's characters were stuck in a loop, and only the audience could free them. chekhovOS was an online game with Mikhail Baryshnikov as Chekhov and Jessica Hecht as Ranevskaya, and a New York Times Critic's Pick.

chekhovOS /an experimental game/ was an interactive online production in which the audience voted on the fate of Chekhov's characters. Mikhail Baryshnikov appeared as Chekhov and Jessica Hecht as Ranevskaya, with Darya Denisova and Anna Bortnick. Igor Golyak created and directed it.

It streamed worldwide from May 16 to June 24, 2021 through the zero-G Lab, presented with the Cherry Orchard Festival. The New York Times named it a Critic's Pick, and The Boston Globe and The New Yorker reviewed it. It won BroadwayWorld's Best Direction of a Stream for 2021 and a TWI-NY Pandemic Award for Best Use of Live Chat in a Play, and shared the 2022 Elliot Norton Special Citation.

Baryshnikov and Hecht returned the next year for The Orchard.
