Arlekin presents
Soviet émigrés in America, and the comedy of never quite arriving. In 2013 Immigrants 3.0 put Arlekin on a 340-seat mainstage for the first time.
Hanna Slutsky's Not Far Away from God became Immigrants 3.0 in Igor Golyak's adaptation: a comedy about people who left one country and are still learning the rules of another. Golyak played Ilya and Irina Bordian played Katya, with Boris Berdnikov.
It opened in March 2013 on the mainstage of the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown, the company's largest house to that point. It went to JCC Manhattan in May and returned to the Boston area in October.
Arlekin is a company of immigrants, and here that story was the play itself.
