Tevye the dairyman, in Russian, in a 340-seat house. Grigori Gorin's Memorial Prayer drew 700 people over two nights in 2015.
Grigori Gorin's play returns Tevye to his source: Sholem Aleichem's stories, without the Broadway score. A father, his daughters, a village that will not stay still. Arlekin performed it in Russian, directed by Igor Golyak.
It opened in January 2015 and came back in October at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown, where about 700 people saw it in two performances. The cast included Eduard Snitkovsky, Irina Bordian as Tzeitel, Irina Smirnoff, Darya Denisova, Gene Ravvin and Alexander Petetsky.
It was an early marker of the Jewish stories that became central to the company's work a decade later.
