One house in Dresden. Sixty years of lies about who owned it. The Stone is Arlekin's 10th-anniversary breakthrough and sweeps the 2020 Elliot Norton Awards.

Marius von Mayenburg's The Stone follows a single house from 1935 to 1993: seized from its Jewish owners, defended by the family that took it, inherited by children who were told a different story. Three generations of one family tell three versions of what happened. Igor Golyak directs.

Arlekin stages it first in Russian in the Needham studio, May to June 2019, then in English that September, with Darya Denisova, David Gamarnik and Olga Sokolova. The Boston Globe calls it "spellbinding."

At the 2020 Elliot Norton Awards it wins Outstanding Production, Outstanding Direction, Outstanding Design and Outstanding Actress for Darya Denisova in the Small or Fringe category. Four awards for a 60-seat room in Needham.
