Z Space and Arlekin present, In association with MART Foundation
Following its New York premiere at BAM and its Off-Broadway and Boston runs, Our Class came to Z Space's Steindler Stage in San Francisco in spring 2026.
Our Class was presented in association with MART Foundation.
Ten classmates, five Jewish and five Catholic Poles, grow up as friends and neighbors, then find themselves pitted against each other in the face of entrenched antisemitism, with life and death consequences. Inspired by real events surrounding a 1941 pogrom in a small Polish village, the play follows their lives from childhood through eight decades. Z Space co-presented the West Coast premiere of Igor Golyak's production of Tadeusz Słobodzianek's masterpiece.

Post-show discussions during the run included a Conversation with Descendants of Poland on March 29, 2026, with Ty Rogers, whose family from Jedwabne lost 26 cousins, and Rabbi Haim Beliak, founder of Friends for Jewish Renewal in Poland, moderated by Igor Golyak; and Jewish Theater Makers in Conversation on April 3, 2026, with Carey Perloff and Igor Golyak, moderated by Shafer Mazow.
